Hello,
Does anyone know where or by what name "New Cemetery" in Clearfield County might be or is now called? My reference was the Raftsman's Journal of 1908, so I'm guessing it isn't called "New" anymore. I'd also like to know where I might find records of same. The names I'm looking for (at New Cemetery or elsewhere) are Martha E. Snyder of Clearfield buried 1908. Her children were Horatio, Mary A., Lucy, Annie E. and T. Lansing. Mary A. was the wife of E. C. Brenner. Lucy became the wife of John C. Hicklen. Annie E. married Lewis M. Garrett. T. Lansing was one of Clearfield's prominent citizens. (See similar post in "Find Someone" area.)
Thanks, Dan Lewis

You might want to try Hillcrest Cemetary. I checked the Clearfield Progress newspaper and it has a death notice of T Lansing Snyder, son of the late Thomas and Martha Synder. He died 01/21/1923. It says that he will be buried at Hillcrest. Let me know if you need more info.

Yes, the "New" cemetery is Hillcrest Cemetery, started in 1881. Thomas nad Marths Snyder are buried there. They were also featured in our Hillcrest Cemetery walking tour. We still have come walking tour books available for a $5 donation (including mailing). Contact CCHS at 104 E. Pine St., Clearfield, PA 16830 for a copy.

Hey, that is wonderful information to hear! I appreciate you both sharing with me. My next question: How can I access those old newspaper files? I am in North Carolina, so a personal visit would not be easy. Is there any possible access online, or can I call someone that has personal access? I am hoping to find Lt. Thomas G. Snyder's obituary(s), probably in early January of 1863, as he died 12/30/62 in or near Chantilly, VA. Any thoughts? Thanks, Dan Lewis dan_lewis@bellsouth.net
