Hello, I've been doing extensive research into the life and times of Lieutenant Thomas G. Snyder (Union, Civil War) and Martha E. Snyder who moved to the Clearfield region about 1852 from Philadelphia. I am looking for any descendents of these folks (my great-great grandparents) who might be interested in having the considerable amount of information I've found, and who might have information themselves to add to my research.
Their offspring included : Horatio Snyder of Phillipsburg; Mrs. Mary (Snyder)Brenner, Mrs. Lucy (Snyder) Hicklin Mrs. Anna (Snyder) Garrett, of Philadelphia T. Lansing Snyder, of Clearfield.
The pallbearers at the funeral of Martha E. Snyder were her grand children, as follows: Thomas G. Snyder Geo. S. Snyder Jr of Windber; Charles D. Snyder, of Phillipsburg; Fred C. Brenner, of Clearfield; Dr. Ely, of Amy Run; and James Gillespie, of Reynoldsville.
I've found some pretty fascinating information and pictures that I'd like to share with Snyder relatives from way back then. Thanks, Dan Lewis dan_lewis@bellsouth.net

Hello. My great-grandmother was a Snyder. Her name was Susannah Jane Snyder. She was born on the Snyder farm which was located near where the Curwensville Dam is. For years my Dad wanted to show me where the Snyder family farm was located but didn't know how to get to it once the Curwensville Dam area was built. A few years ago, a friend showed me the remains of the barn foundation that we think is where the Snyder farm was located. I'm not sure if it is the correct area, but I like to think that is where my ancestors lived. Unfortunately my Dad passed away before we could look at this area together. He used to visit there as a child and likely would of known if it was the correct area. There are other things that make us think we found the correct location. My great uncle passed away on the farm. There was an article in the Progress on search party members finding his body leaning against a tree with snow covering him. His dog is the one who took the search party members to where he was located. My grandma told me that he was found in an apple orchard not far from the farm. And there still is an orchard a ways from the foundation. Grandma also told me about a panther den that was above the Snyder farm. My friend said he found something that looked like it could of been an animal den at one time above the farm on a hillside. That's in the general area where my grandma described. So it all fits in that the foundation very likely was part of the Snyder farm. Also my ancestors owned land above New Millport. There is a small Snyder cemetary on this land where my great-great grandparents and other family members are buried. We have family history on the Snyder family back to Abraham Snyder. I also have some pictures of Snyder family relatives from the 1800's. Two of these pictures belong to my aunt and are tin type pictures. I took copies of them and printed pictures from the computer for my family history album. I will have to check my family history records and see if any of the Snyder names you show here are related to mine. I'm sure they are. I have heard other people say if you are a decendant of a Snyder, you are related. Also my family lineage goes back to Daniel Odgen and William Bloom, two other early settlers in Clearfield. Do you know if any of your family members lived near Curwensville or New Millport? There used to be an annual Snyder family picnic that was held for many, many years. When my Dad passed away in 1998 there were some Snyder's that came to the funeral and told me that I should start coming to the reunions. I'm not sure if they still continue to have them or not? Also does anyone else have any information on the Snyder farm that was near the Curwensville Dam area. Thanks!

My gg grandmother is Marion Snyder and her father was Everhart Snyder, b. 1 Jul 1842 in Germany and d. 9 Mar 1913 in West Decatur, Clearfield, PA. I have information on his descendents - much of it I added to my ancestry.com tree, which is called "Henchbarger Compiled by Tracy" If you think Everhart and his family links into your Snyder's, I would enjoy trying to piece our family histories together.
