In the 1940s, Tutti Gaines robbed the Pottersdale post office. He got only a few dollars. Since he was black, he got five years in prison.
I'm trying to flesh out the story. Any reference to exact dates, and which media to pursue would be appreciated.
The date is approximate as is the spelling of his name. I've heard he came from the African-American villages on Hickory Hill, West Keating Township.

COURT HEARS..Pg 2
Receiving a provisional 23 month jail sentences and a $50 fine and a $50 fine and costs was MILFORD Gaines of Cataract, Karthaus Twp, Gaines pleaded guilty to burglarizing the J. T. McGonigal Store at Pottersdale last August. Mr. McGonigal said about $50 worth of merchandise was taken. Gaines said he took food to feed his four children.
Note AUGUST 1949 would have been when the break in occured.
Milford's wife was OLIVE TEATS, daughter of Guy B. Teats and Ella May Eteon (GAINES CEMETERY, Pottersdale). Guy's parents were Emauel and Maude Teat out of New Garden, West Keating Township.
Guy was born July 8, 1902 and died Jan 23, 1970. His Obit is in the Clearfield Progress. He was born during the tunnel's going thru for the Rail Road. Most of family is buried in Gaines Cemtery, West Keating cemetery about .7 miles from the Clearfield County line.
Milford's wife I think moved to Lock Haven, PA
