I'm trying to figure out where Ralph Wayne Gearhart's (my great grandfather) ice cream store was in the mid 1930's. I think it was 233 Market and wonder if that was on west Market St. or on east Market St. My father stayed there with his grandparents in an upstairs apartment and he remembers the train coming through and him running out the door at the sound of the whistle. I can't find railroad tracks on maps and can't find records other than an old ad in Page 5 of Clearfield Progress , October 12, 1935. If the building is standing are there any photos available. I've tried Google maps but there are no street views in that area. I do have a photo of the interior of the store. Ralph Wayne got berries from his father John Wesley's farm to use as flavorings. Hershey used to provide chocolate to him. Thanks for any help!!!

I remember as a child, sometime in the 40's, getting ice cream sandwiches (for 10 cents!) in a little shop near the corner of Third and Market Streets, which would have been close to the railroad tracks on Third Street.
Coincidentally, my maiden name is Gearhart, but my dad's parents were John & Lillian (Postlewaite) Gearhart from Curwensville, Pa. As far as I know, we are from different family lines.

That helps me understand where the tracks were. Ralph Wayne Gearhart was in the 1940 Michigan census. I know he still had family there but not sure who was doing what.
Interesting you are a Gearhart! There were so many and I'm not clear on who was who. I know we had family in Curwensville but not sure who and when. Thanks for the information!
