Approximately three weeks ago I sent a Feedback (suggestion) message to the Clearfield County Historical Society with an offer of Civil War artifacts loan/donation for the museum. I have not received a response nor even an acknowledgement that the message had been received. I had requested an immediate response.
This was my offer. . .
I have recently come into possesion of a Civil War era flag that belonged to my great-great grandfather, John D. Hoover. The flag was made for him by his wife and mother when he enlisted to serve in the Union Army. John D. Hoover was living and farming in Clearfield County at the time he enlisted. After the war he and his family emmigrated to Iowa. Even though I have other options regarding this flag I feel its proper home is where he lived at the time of the Civil War.
With the flag I also have original letters John D. Hoover wrote to his wife while serving in the Union Army. I am considering a loan to the CCHS of the letters if the Board is interested. The letters are wonderful and in surprisingly good condition for being almost 150 years old.
My personal contact information was included in the Feedback message. I would appreciate a response regarding my offer from the CCHS as soon as possible.
Thank you, Earlene King
