I have to spread my mother's ashes in Mutton Town in Clearfield county. It is not found on any maps I have seen. It was a small town of probably 6 houses when she was a young girl of 6 years old(that was about 1945).
My grandfather was a coal miner and trapped of furs in the winter. It is a little known place by a few but I need to find it and direction to get to it.

My father told me that Mutton Town and Marron were one in the same. It was located close to Old Zion Cemetary in Jordan Twp. Hope this helps.

I believe you are referring to MUTTON HOLLOW, described as "a steep uphill climb from Woodland and Bigler, it is a scattering of homes on the hollow between two hills, the dived between the Spring Valley and Pine Top areas...Down the divide, Jakes Run splashes its way to Woodland." Acoording to Mr. Bob Lumadue, drom Goldenrod Farms (who is a Mutton Hollow native), "it was a herd of sheep" that gave Mutton Hollows its name. Mr. Lumadue's former homestead is now the Richard Bumbarger residence.
