I am researching my mother’s favorite relative, her grandmother. Lucy Mae Emery was born in Pennsylvania, supposedly 2 Jan 1869. I have located what I believe to be her family in the 1870 Census in Woodward, Clearfield County PA, with head of family millwright William G. Emery, wife Mary, and children Hellen (aka Henrietta), Arthur and William, all born in Maine except for William (Nova Scotia). However no Lucy is listed. This could be an oversight by the census taker, or perhaps she was not accurate about her birth date. The parents died and the family disintegrated before the 1880 Census – William Sr probably died in Teonesta PA in 1877.
I contacted the county Register & Recorder, who referred me to the CCHSM. Any help would be appreciated, most particularly any birth records circa 1870 for Lucy Emery, but really any info at all about this family could help.

I do also see that a book, "Genealogical Records of Descendants of John and Anthony Emery, of Newbury, Mass,. 1590-1890," has been published online at archive.org at this link: archive.org/stream/genealogicalreco00emer/genealogicalreco00emer_djvu.txtA search on "Mary Ells" will bring you to an entry mentioning her marriage to William Gardiner Emery giving his lineage. Sadly no children ofthis marriage are mentioned. By the way, it is almost certain that Mary Jane Ells was a Nova Scotian or had recent Nova Scotia roots. Good luck with this. I would be happy to hear of developments on your end.
